The Israeli authorities announced today that they arrested an Israeli citizen suspected of working for "foreign elements", alluding to Iran.
The Israeli Shin Bet security service and the police announced that 29-year-old Israeli Alexander Granovski from the town of Petah Tikva is suspected of being involved in the burning of several vehicles "for the benefit of foreign elements", according to Israeli media.
According to the Israeli authorities, this is the 13th case of spying for Iran discovered in the past months.
The investigation showed that since November, Granovski was in contact with "terrorist elements from abroad" and that he fulfilled "a large number of different security tasks for them" for financial gain, according to the statement.
It added that he set fire to eight vehicles across Israel, wrote "Children of Ruhollah" messages, alluding to Iran's former Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini, photographed a government facility in the central part of the country and the entrance to a neighborhood where former Israeli Defense Minister and lawmaker Benny Gantz lives . It is also alleged that he sent information about Israeli civilians to the principals.
