Renowned British author Neil Gaiman has been the target of sexual assault allegations for several months - he has been accused by eight women, including his child's nanny. The writer denies the allegations, and an investigation is underway, reports N1.
Neil Gaiman, a British writer and winner of numerous literary awards, known for his works including "Norse Mythology", "Stardust", and "Anansi's Boys", has been accused of sexual assault by eight women, and according to foreign media, the first allegations emerged in July.
The tortoisemedia website reports that Gaiman was first accused of sexual assault by two women. They released a podcast titled "Master," in which five women, alleged victims of Gaiman's sexual assault and abuse, testified.
Variety.com reports a New York magazine article titled "There's No Safe Word," by author Lila Shapiro, who spoke with eight women who are alleged victims of his harassment and abuse.
One of them, Scarlett Pavlovic, was 22 when she met Gaiman's ex-wife, Amanda Palmer, in New Zealand. They became friends, and Palmer allegedly asked Scarlett Pavlovic to babysit her child. She agreed, and that's when she met Gaiman, who she alleges sexually assaulted her while his child was nearby.
The women who accused Neil Gaiman were mostly in their twenties at the time they were allegedly abused, with the youngest being 18 years old, while Gaiman was around 40 at the time.
The website www.tortoisemedia.co states that Gaiman strongly denies all allegations, while New Zealand police said they have attempted to speak to key players in this investigation and that these efforts are "still ongoing."
Neil Gaiman was born on November 10, 1960, in Hampshire, England. According to Laguna Publishing on its website, he was initially a comic book author, "until one of the guests at a party, the editor of the literary supplement of a local newspaper, explained to him that what he was doing was literary creation". He became famous for, among other things, the books "Coraline", "The Graveyard Book", and "Neverland".
