The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos will begin today under the slogan Collaboration for an Intelligent Age.
The focus of the 55th Annual Meeting will be on five thematic areas, such as Rethinking Growth, Industries in the Intelligent Age, Investing in People, Protecting the Planet, and Rebuilding Trust.
As announced on the WEF website, among the political leaders participating are the newly elected US President, Donald Trump, who will participate via video link, and the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen.
"This year's annual meeting convenes global leaders to address key global and regional challenges. This includes responding to geopolitical shocks, stimulating growth to improve living standards, and managing a just and inclusive energy transition," the WEF website states, Tanjug reports.
The founder and chairman of the WEF Board of Directors, Klaus Schwab, stated that Davos is unique in that it brings together almost three thousand figures from the world of politics, business and civil society to face the challenges of a world in profound transformation.
"This year's annual meeting will foster a spirit of collaboration and constructive optimism, with the aim of shaping the coming intelligent age in a more sustainable and inclusive way," added Schwab.
As stated, the 55th annual WEF meeting will focus discussions on five core, interconnected thematic areas, each of which is key to a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future.
