An Iraqi man who burned the Quran several times in Sweden died today, a court in Stockholm was told.
Swedish media reported that he was killed in a shooting in a nearby town.
Salvan Momika burned and desecrated the holy books of Islam several times in Sweden in 2023.
Videos of Quran burnings have sparked outrage and criticism in several Muslim countries, leading to riots and unrest in many places.
The Stockholm District Court announced that the sentencing, which was scheduled for today, has been postponed because the defendant Momika has passed away, but that "they have no information about when and how the death occurred."

Police said a shooting was reported at an apartment building in Soderalle near Stockholm last night, and that they subsequently found a man who had bullet wounds and later died.
State television SVT reported, without citing sources, that the victim was Momika.
The SVT report states that Momika came to Sweden from Iraq in 2018 and received a three-year residence permit in 2021.
Momika claimed that his protests were directed at the religion of Islam, not Muslims.
He claimed he wanted to protect the Swedish population from the messages of the Quran. Swedish police allowed Momika's demonstration, citing freedom of speech, while indicting him.
Last March, he was arrested in neighboring Norway, after stating that he would seek asylum there, and was returned to Sweden.
