US President Donald Trump has said that Palestinians would not have the right of return under his Gaza displacement plan.
In an interview with Fox News, part of which was published today, when asked by reporters whether Palestinians would have the right to return to the war-torn territories, Trump replied: "No, they wouldn't, because they would have a much better place to live," he said.
"In other words, I'm talking about building them a permanent place, because if they were to come back now, it would be years before they could live there, it's not livable there," Trump added.
Trump said last week, when he hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, that the United States would take control of the Gaza Strip and get rid of destroyed buildings in order to develop the territory economically. According to him, the Palestinian population should be displaced. His words were condemned by many countries around the world.

He has now reiterated that Palestinians from Gaza can go to live in Jordan or Egypt, despite the opposition of those countries and numerous others, as well as the Palestinians themselves.
In the interview, which will be published in full tonight, the US president said that the US will build "wonderful communities" for the approximately two million residents of Gaza.
"They could have five, six or two. But we're going to build safe communities, a little bit further away from where they are where all that danger is," Trump added.
"I am committed to buying and owning Gaza. When it comes to rebuilding it, we could give it to other countries in the Middle East to build parts of it. Other people could do it under our auspices. But we are committed to owning it, to taking it and making sure Hamas doesn't come back," Trump said without explaining who he would buy Gaza from or how the US would own the territory, the BBC reports.
He promised to "take care of the Palestinians."
"We will make sure that they live beautifully in harmony and peace and that they don't kill each other," Trump said, according to the BBC.
"They don't want to go back to Gaza, they're only going back because they have no alternative," he said.
