Lebanese buried more than 90 people today, including 51 fighters from the Shiite Hezbollah movement and five children in the southern border village of Aitarun who were killed during the war against Israel.

Some were killed by Israel, and some died during displacement.

Their burial could not take place earlier, only after Israeli forces withdrew most of their soldiers from the border villages after February 18th.

In the heavily damaged village square, coffins were transported in four large trucks, some covered with the Hezbollah flag, others with the Lebanese flag and decorated with flowers.

The coffins were then taken to the village cemetery, where 95 graves were dug, each marked with a number.

The dead included 51 Hezbollah fighters, most of whom died in combat, and 31 civilians, including five children and 16 women, killed in Israeli strikes, as well as 13 who died of natural causes that occurred during their journey, local authorities said.

On October 8, 2023, Hezbollah opened a front against Israel, which turned into an open war after almost a year of hostilities.

The conflict has killed more than 4.000 people in Lebanon, destroyed entire sectors of the stronghold of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement, and forced more than a million people to flee, including around 100.000 who are still displaced, according to the UN.
