Pro-Ukrainian protests across the US: Rallies in New York, Los Angeles, Boston...

Pro-Ukrainian protests have taken place across the United States (US) following a heated debate between US President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance on the one hand and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the other, the British public service BBC reports.

The outlet reports that hundreds of people gathered in New York, Los Angeles and Boston to express support for Ukraine after a heated argument in the Oval Office.

Protesters with pro-Ukraine banners also gathered along the road in Waitsfield, Vermont, where Vice President Vance and his family were on a ski vacation.

American media reported that the family was moved to an unknown location instead of their planned stay at a ski resort due to the protests.

The protest in Waitsfield against the Trump and Vance administrations was organized earlier in the week – before the US president and vice president's clash with Zelensky – but many of the banners contained references to that debate and Russia's war against Ukraine.

"I think the scene at the White House probably motivated even more people to come out into the streets today," Judy Daly of the group Indivisible Mad River Valley, which organized the protest, told Vermont Public Radio.

"Vance crossed the line," added protester Cory Giroux.

Ahead of the Vance family's visit, Vermont Governor Phil Scott urged people to treat them with respect.

Scott, a Republican governor who refused to vote for Trump, said: "I welcome the vice president and his family to Vermont and hope they enjoy their weekend here. It's no surprise they chose Vermont, we've had a lot of snow this winter, which has been good for our economy."

He added, "I hope Vermonters will remember that the Vice President is here on a family trip with his young children, and that while we may not always agree, we should be respectful. Please join me in welcoming his family to Vermont and wishing them the best of what makes our state and Vermonters special."

Vance, who has three young children with his wife, Usha, has not publicly commented on the protests. Media reports say counter-protesters supporting Trump and Vance were also present in Waitsfield.

Demonstrators also gathered outside Tesla stores across the US on Saturday, protesting Elon Musk's efforts to drastically reduce government spending.

Musk, the billionaire and CEO of Tesla, has been tasked by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, better known as DOGE.

On Friday, incredible scenes unfolded in the Oval Office as Trump clashed with Zelensky, telling him to make a deal with Russia "or we're out of it."

At one point, Trump told Zelensky that he was not grateful enough for America's military and political support in the war against the Russian invasion, and accused him of "gambled with World War III."

Vance also accused the Ukrainian president of being disrespectful and "making a case to the media."

Zelensky will join European leaders on Sunday at a summit on the war in Ukraine, hosted by British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Ahead of the meeting in London, British Finance Minister Rachel Reeves signed a loan agreement worth 2,26 billion pounds ($2,84 billion) with her Ukrainian counterpart, to fund further military support and future reconstruction in Ukraine.
