Suicide bombers blew themselves up and managed to breach the wall of a military facility in Pakistan, but the attackers were unable to enter the facility, which houses offices and apartments for military personnel, the military says.
It happened in the town of Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in northwest Pakistan, where the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups are active, the Army said.
"After breaching the wall, five to six attackers attempted to enter the military facility, but they were eliminated," the Army said in a statement, adding that fighting is still ongoing at the site.
A group linked to the Pakistani Taliban, Jaish Al-Fursan, claimed responsibility for the attack, the third since the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan on Sunday.
Jaish Al-Fursan claims that its fighters killed dozens of Pakistani security personnel, but the military did not immediately provide details.
