Israel is "using hunger as a weapon" in the war in the Gaza Strip by blocking humanitarian aid to the Palestinian territory, South Africa's foreign ministry said today.
"By preventing food from entering Gaza, Israel continues to use hunger as a weapon," Pretoria said.
South Africa "strongly condemns Israel's refusal to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip," while the territory's 2,4 million residents are in urgent need of food, shelter and medical supplies.
Due to the blockade of negotiations on the continuation of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu's government has been preventing the entry of humanitarian aid for the population since Sunday.
South Africa had filed a genocide lawsuit against Israel before the International Court of Justice.
