US President Donald Trump said tonight that he would speak with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, possibly this week, after Ukraine announced it supported a US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia.
"I think so," Trump said, responding to a reporter's question about whether the conversation with Putin would take place this week.
Trump also said, "Of course he will," when asked if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would be invited back to the White House.
On the other hand, Russian diplomatic spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also said that the possibility of Russian-American contact in the coming days is not ruled out.
"We do not rule out contacts with US representatives in the coming days," Zakharova said, according to Russian agencies TASS and Ria Novosti.
