Israel attacked a Syrian army unit in the north of the Golan Heights this afternoon, after fire from the conflict on the Syrian side of the border spilled into Israeli territory for the second day in a row, Israeli media reported.
An Israeli plane hit a Syrian military jeep on the Syrian side of the Golan, a Syrian military officer told the Lebanese news site Al-Mayadeen.
The Israeli military has not yet confirmed the reports.
Earlier today, it was reported that several missiles from Syria hit open areas in the north of the Golan. No one was injured and no damage was caused in the incident.
Two people were killed in that attack, Syrian media reported.
The Syrian army also claimed that the Israeli airstrikes coincided with an attack by Islamic extremists on the same positions. She also assessed that these attacks were coordinated and that Israeli military helicopters supported the Nusra Front's attack on the outskirts of Quneitra.
A Syrian military statement stated that an Israeli strike hit a garage in a residential building and killed several people.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attacks made Israel's policy clear once again.
"We are not ready to accept any overflow or leakage of fire from any front. We will respond with force to any fire on our territory," Netanyahu said last night.
Israel has largely stayed out of the conflict in Syria's six-year-old civil war, but has responded to any spillover of fire across the border. The Israeli Air Force also carried out strikes on alleged arms deliveries from Syria to the Lebanese Hezbollah, which is fighting on the side of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces in the Syrian war.
