The Hamas Health Ministry for the Gaza Strip announced today that 1.001 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory since the resumption of Israeli attacks on March 18.
The ministry added that 80 people had died in the territory in the last 48 hours.
The total death toll in Gaza since the start of the war, triggered by a Hamas attack on Israeli soil on October 7, 2023, has risen to 50.357 people.
Israel resumed attacks on Gaza on March 18, breaking a ceasefire imposed on January 19 that ended 15 months of fighting in the territory.

The Israeli military today issued orders to evacuate most of the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah.
Israel violated the ceasefire earlier this month and again attacked Hamas from the air and ground.
Rafah was attacked by the Israeli army last May, leaving much of the city in ruins.
Israeli forces occupied a strategic buffer zone along the border with Egypt, near Rafah, and did not withdraw from it as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement.
They cited the prevention of weapons smuggling as the reason.
