Israel has announced that it will eliminate remaining tariffs on imports from the United States (US).
The US is Israel's trading partner and closest ally, with bilateral trade worth $34 billion last year.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the elimination of tariffs on American goods is another step towards opening the market to competition and reducing the cost of living, reports Klix.ba.
"In addition to the economic benefits for the economy and citizens of Israel, this immediate move will allow us to further strengthen the alliance and ties between Israel and the United States," Netanyahu said.
Israel and the US signed a free trade agreement 40 years ago, and around 98 percent of goods from the US have been duty-free so far.
