US President Donald Trump announced today that he is extending the deadline for the sale of the social network TikTok by an additional 75 days because "the transaction requires more work" although he believes that "a lot of progress" has been made on the matter.
At the end of January, the US president postponed for the first time, by 75 days, the entry into force of the law passed by Congress in 2024.
The law provides for a ban on TikTok in the United States (US) if the social network does not sever ties with its parent company ByteDance, i.e. with China.
TikTok has long been a target of US authorities, with many officials believing that the entertainment video platform allows Beijing to spy on around 170 million users in the US, as well as manipulate information.
