The administration of US President Donald Trump has exempted smartphones and computers from reciprocal tariffs it has imposed, including a 125 percent tariff on Chinese goods, the BBC reports.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced late Friday that the goods would be exempt from Trump's 10 percent global tariff on most countries and a much higher Chinese import tax.
The move comes after concerns from American technology firms that the prices of gadgets could skyrocket, as many of them are manufactured in China, Jutarnji List reports.
Exceptions also include other electronic devices and components, including semiconductors, solar cells, and memory cards.
