US President Donald Trump today accused his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky of making "inflammatory" statements about the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which Russia annexed, saying it was complicating ceasefire negotiations in Ukraine.
As talks between American, Ukrainian and European officials take place in London, Trump posted a long and sharp message on his Truth Social platform.
Trump reiterated that Zelensky "doesn't hold the cards" and accused him of "extending the killing" because he refuses to recognize Russia's sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula.
On the other hand, Zelensky's chief of staff Andriy Yermark said today that Ukraine is "committed to the peace efforts" of the US president, while Washington threatened to withdraw from peace talks.
"We stressed that we are committed to the peace efforts of US President Donald Trump," Yermak said on Telegram from London, where he is holding talks with Kiev's allies.
Yermak added that he had a "comprehensive dialogue aimed at establishing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine."
