Israeli strikes on the town of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, killed 54 people last night, a local hospital said.
An Associated Press cameraman in Khan Yunis counted 10 airstrikes on the city overnight and this morning, and saw numerous bodies being transported to the morgue at the city's Nasser Hospital.
Among the dead was journalist Hassan Samour, who worked for Qatari Al Arabi television, which said Samour was killed along with 11 other members of his family in one of the attacks in Khan Younis.
The Israeli military has not commented on the attacks.
