Former United States President Joseph Biden has been diagnosed with an "aggressive" form of prostate cancer, the former US president's office announced tonight, adding that the 82-year-old Democrat has "bone metastases."
"Although it represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-dependent, allowing for effective management" of the disease, Biden's office said.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and accounts for 15 percent of all male cancers.
"The president and his family are evaluating treatment options with doctors," the statement said.
Biden left the White House in January after deciding last summer not to run in the presidential election held in November.
