A New York jury has found former Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein guilty of sex crimes charges in a retrial, after an appeals court overturned his 2020 conviction last year.
Weinstein (73), once one of the most powerful figures in Hollywood, is accused of raping a young actress and assaulting two other women.
He pleaded not guilty and denied ever assaulting anyone or having non-consensual sexual intercourse, Reuters reports.
The prosecution insisted in its closing arguments that "the evidence shows that Weinstein used his power and influence to seduce and abuse women."
The defense countered that "the alleged victims lied in court out of revenge after consensual sexual encounters with Weinstein did not result in new roles," Tanjug reports.
Weinstein has a number of health problems and attended the retrial in a wheelchair.
