Tens of thousands of people gathered in London today for a rally in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which has been under Israeli attack for almost two years.
They called on the British government to "stop arming Israel" and expressed fears of intimidation throughout the Middle East due to a war between Israel and Iran.
They carried banners reading "Hands off Gaza", "Hands off Iran" and chanted "Free Palestine!".
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign, which organised the demonstration, called on the British government to "stop arming genocide".
More than 55.700 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, according to data released on Thursday by the Palestinian Hamas movement's Health Ministry, which the United Nations (UN) considers reliable.
That war was triggered by a deadly Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
On June 13, Israel, claiming that Iran was on the verge of building an atomic bomb, launched an unprecedented, massive air strike on its sworn enemy. It hit hundreds of military and nuclear facilities and killed top officers and important nuclear scientists.
Iran, which has responded with missile and drone attacks on Israel, denies any plans to produce nuclear weapons.
