Algerian authorities announced today that three people were killed and 81 injured when a fence in the upper stand of a stadium collapsed after the end of a match in which MC Alger won its ninth championship title.
MC Alger won their second consecutive title last night, after drawing 0:0 against Magra.
The incident occurred after the match at the "Olympic Stadium 5 July 1962" in Algiers, when a fence on the upper part of the stand collapsed.
Several dozen fans fell from the upper to the lower stand, and shortly afterwards it was reported that one person had died and around 50 were injured.
The Ministry of Health announced today that two more fans have died from their injuries and that there are more injured.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
