US President Donald Trump has said that a "complete and total" ceasefire between Israel and Iran will come into effect, aiming to end the conflict between the two countries.
"Assuming everything works out as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, for their endurance, courage and intelligence in ending what should be called the 'Twelve Day War,'" Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
He also stated that the ceasefire would begin in about six hours, after each of the conflicting parties ceases its military operations.
Israel and Iran have not confirmed that a ceasefire has been reached.
"Officially, Iran will begin a ceasefire, after 12 o'clock. Israel will begin a ceasefire, and after 24 hours the world will welcome the official end of the XNUMX-day war. During the ceasefire, the other side will remain calm and respectful," Trump wrote.
He also pointed out that this was a war "that could have lasted for years and destroyed the entire Middle East."
"But it hasn't, and it never will. God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and God bless the world," the US president wrote.
The Israeli military has previously carried out several waves of attacks on military targets in western Iran, including in Tehran, targeting the Fordo nuclear complex, the headquarters of the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Evin prison. Iran launched a missile attack on a US military base in Qatar, without casualties or major material damage.
Vance: Iran is not currently capable of making nuclear weapons
US Vice President J.D. Vance said Iran is no longer capable of making nuclear weapons after US strikes destroyed its infrastructure.
"Iran came very close to having a nuclear weapon," Vance said in an interview on Fox News' "Special Report with Brett Bayer."
"Now Iran is not able to make a nuclear weapon with the equipment it has because we destroyed it," Vance said, according to Reuters.
