At least four people have died and 40 are missing after a ferry carrying 65 people to the Indonesian island of Bali sank, local police said today.
Rescuers have pulled 23 people from the sea and the rescue operation continues.
The ferry sank just before midnight, after leaving a port on the island of Java.
Indonesian officials said the accident was caused by bad weather conditions.
It was not announced whether there were any foreigners on board.
