Recent violence in the Druze-majority province of Sweida in southern Syria has killed more than 1.260 people in a week, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said tonight.
The NGO said it had discovered new deaths that occurred before the ceasefire came into effect on Sunday.
The dead include 505 Druze fighters and 298 Druze civilians, including 194 people who were executed by "members of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior," the statement said.
The death toll also includes 408 members of government security forces and 35 Sunni Bedouins, including three civilians "executed by Druze fighters."
In addition, 15 members of government forces were killed in Israeli attacks, the observatory added.
