Four people have died and eight are missing in landslides in China caused by heavy rainfall, state media reported today, adding that several thousand residents have been evacuated due to the storm.
It happened in the village of Sigou, in Hebei, a province surrounding the capital Beijing, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
The National Emergency Management Agency announced today that it is sending a team to the area to support flood relief efforts.
Large areas of northern China have been experiencing heavy rains in recent days.
State media reported on Saturday that two people had died due to record rainfall in Hebei.
More than 4.600 people were evacuated last weekend in Fuping County.
In a suburb of Beijing, more than 3.000 residents had to be evacuated due to torrential rains.
Natural disasters are common in China, especially during the summer, when some regions experience intense rains while others are hit by drought.
