Palestinian Authority: New Israeli settlement project undermines West Bank unity

Israel's approval of a key project to build 3.400 housing units in the occupied West Bank threatens the unity of the Palestinian territory, turning it into a real prison, the Palestinian Authority said today.

The Palestinian Authority's Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned Israel's decision to implement the project, which they claim "undermines the prospects for implementing a two-state solution by fragmenting the geographical and demographic unity of the Palestinian state."

"This reinforces the division of the occupied West Bank into isolated, geographically disconnected areas and cantons that resemble real prisons, where movement between them is possible only through occupation checkpoints, amidst the terror of armed settler militias scattered throughout the West Bank," the statement said.
