No trace must be left of Kim.

After Kim Jong Un met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing, members of his entourage carefully wiped down objects the North Korean leader had touched.

Analysts believe this is part of a series of security measures against foreign spies.

Although there is an impression that a new friendship is being born between Kim and Putin, footage released on Wednesday showed that the isolated country is taking extraordinary measures to cover up any clues about Kim's health, Reuters writes.

In a post on Telegram, Kremlin reporter Alexander Yunashev shared a video of two of Kim's aides thoroughly cleaning the room in the Chinese capital where Kim and Putin had spoken for more than two hours.

The back and arms of Kim's chair were scrubbed, and the coffee table next to him was cleaned. The glass from which Kim drank was also removed.

"After the negotiations were concluded, the staff accompanying the DPRK leader carefully destroyed all traces of Kim's presence," the journalist said, referring to North Korea.

After the conversation in that room, Kim and Putin went for tea and greeted each other warmly.

As during previous foreign trips, Kim took his own toilet on his signature green train to Beijing to hide clues about his health, Japanese newspaper Nikkei reported, citing South Korean and Japanese intelligence agencies.

Such measures have been standard protocol since the time of Kim's predecessor, his father Kim Jong Il, said Michael Madden, an expert on North Korean leadership at the Stimson Center.

As on previous foreign trips, Kim brought his own toilet on the distinctive green train.

"A separate toilet and bags for trash, garbage, and cigarette butts are used to ensure that no foreign intelligence service, even a friendly one, would be able to access the sample and perform an analysis," said Meden.

"This could provide insight into possible health issues for Kim Jong Un. This could include hair or skin samples," he added.

After the Hanoi summit with US President Donald Trump in 2019, Kim's security guards were seen blocking off the floor of his hotel suite to spend hours cleaning the room, including removing the mattress from the bed.

Reuters reports that Kim's team was also seen meticulously cleaning items before he used them.

During a 2018 meeting with then-South Korean President Moon Jae-in, North Korean security sprayed a chair and table with disinfectant and searched them before Kim sat down.

Before he sat down at the table for another summit with Putin in 2023, his security team wiped down the chair with disinfectant and thoroughly checked it for safety, and one of the security guards scanned the seat with a metal detector, video footage showed.
