The German government has decided to support France's proposal for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the plan.
According to the media outlet, Germany is thus distancing itself from both the United States and Israel after Sunday's attacks in Qatar.
Germany plans to support a United Nations resolution on Friday adopting the New York Declaration, led by France and Saudi Arabia, Bloomberg quoted sources as saying, speaking on condition of anonymity because the decision has not yet been made public.
The declaration supports the creation of a Palestinian state, as well as the right of return for refugees.
