Iranian President Masoud Pazakhstani called on Muslim countries to sever ties with Israel today.
Pezeshkian made the remarks ahead of a summit planned in Doha in response to Israel's attack last week on officials from the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Qatari capital.
"It is possible for Muslim countries to sever ties with this fictitious regime (Israeli) and preserve their unity and cohesion as much as possible," Pezeshkian said before leaving for Qatar.
The Iranian president expressed hope that the summit would "make a decision" on measures to be taken against Israel.
