Two planes collide on runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York, two people slightly injured

Two planes collided on the runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York City last night, injuring two people, the airport and Delta Airlines said.

The incident involving two Delta regional airline Endeavor Air planes occurred at 9:58 p.m. local time (3:58 a.m. Central European Time).

One plane was landing and the other was preparing to take off, the airport management said.

One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the statement added. Delta said a crew member on one of the planes suffered minor injuries.

The airport, one of the busiest in the US, was not closed due to the incident.

Delta, the parent company of the Endeavor Era, said it would work with the appropriate authorities to determine safety measures after what it described as a "low-speed collision" during "taxiing" on the runway.

According to the company, one wing of a plane that was about to take off touched the fuselage of a plane that had just landed. There were a total of 93 passengers and crew members on board the two planes, the company said.
