Israel carried out strikes on southern Lebanon early this morning, killing one person and wounding seven, and briefly cutting off the highway connecting Beirut to parts of southern Lebanon, the Health Ministry said.
Air strikes carried out before dawn on the village of Msajeh hit a location where heavy machinery was being sold, destroying a large number of vehicles.
A vehicle carrying vegetables, which happened to be passing by at the time of the attack, was hit, killing one person and wounding another, Hezbollah's Al Manar television reported.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health later announced that the deceased person was a Syrian national, while one Syrian national and six Lebanese, including two women, were also wounded.
The Israeli military said it had hit a site where machinery was being stored to be used to rebuild infrastructure for the militant group Hezbollah.
Since the 14-month war between Israel and Hezbollah ended in late November with a US-brokered ceasefire, Israel has carried out almost daily airstrikes that have killed dozens of people. Israel accuses Hezbollah of trying to rebuild its capabilities after suffering heavy losses during the war.
Earlier this month, UN human rights chief Volker Turk called for renewed efforts to bring about a permanent cessation of hostilities in Lebanon after that war. He said that by the end of September, 103 civilians had been killed in Lebanon since the ceasefire came into effect.
