Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned today attacks on what he claims are civilian targets in the south of the country, carried out by Israel, in which one person was killed and seven were injured.
"Once again, southern Lebanon is the target of a heinous Israeli aggression against civilian objects. Without justification or excuse. But the seriousness of this latest aggression lies in the fact that it comes after the ceasefire agreement in Gaza," Aoun said.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that one person was killed and seven were wounded in an Israeli attack in the Al-Msaileh area.
Lebanese news agency Ani reported that Israeli warplanes carried out 10 attacks on a fleet of bulldozers and excavators.
The Israeli military confirmed the attacks and added that they targeted the infrastructure of the militant Islamist group Hezbollah.
"The presence of these devices and Hezbollah's activities in this area constitute a violation of the agreements concluded between Israel and Lebanon," the army added.
The affected area of Al-Msajleh is home to the residence of parliament speaker and Hezbollah ally Nabih Berri.
Israel continues to attack Lebanon almost daily despite the ceasefire of November 27, 2024, which ended the conflict that lasted for more than a year.
In Lebanon, 103 more civilians have been killed since the ceasefire, according to the United Nations (UN), and the country fears additional attacks on Hezbollah, which refuses to disarm.
Hezbollah began launching rockets into Israel in October 2023 in support of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, leading to the Lebanon-Israel war in September 2024.
