China said it is ready to develop relations with North Korea to strengthen strategic cooperation on international and regional issues, North Korea's state news agency KCNA reported today.
Chinese President Xi Jinping made the point in a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent on Thursday, in response to Kim's message on the anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
Xi, according to KCNA, wrote that China and North Korea are good neighbors and good friends who share a common destiny and support each other, adding that the friendship between the two countries is growing stronger.
The letter also stated that the two leaders jointly prepared a plan for further developing bilateral relations during Kim's visit to China in September, Reuters reports.
In a separate report, KCNA announced that the foreign ministers of Indonesia and North Korea met in Pyongyang on Saturday.
During the conversation, they exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation on regional and international issues of common interest.
The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding covering common topics, but details were not disclosed.
