Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has called opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado a "demonic witch."
Machado was awarded "for her tireless fight for democracy" in the South American country.
"About 90 percent of the population rejects the demonic witch Sayona," the president said, referring to a vengeful being from Venezuelan legends, but without mentioning the name of his opponent or her recent award.
The government in Caracas often refers to Maria Corina Machado this way.
"We want peace and we will have it, but peace with freedom, with sovereignty," added Nicolas Maduro, as the United States deployed ships to the Caribbean Sea to combat drug trafficking from Venezuela, accusing the head of state of leading a cartel.
Marija Korina Macado supports these maneuvers.
She dedicated her Nobel Prize to US President Donald Trump and the Venezuelan people.
