Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he will travel to the United States this Sunday for talks on the potential delivery of long-range weapons.
Zelensky said that a meeting with US President Donald Trump could take place as early as Friday, adding that he would meet with defense and energy companies, as well as members of the US Congress.
"The main topics will be air defense and our long-range capabilities, in order to maintain pressure on Russia," Zelensky said.
Zelensky will join a Ukrainian delegation led by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, who is already in the United States for preliminary talks.
He said he would also seek further U.S. assistance in protecting Ukraine's electricity and gas networks.
Zelensky described yesterday's phone call with Trump as "very productive."
Trump warned Russia yesterday that America could send long-range Tomahawk missiles to Kiev, after which Russian President Vladimir Putin said that this would seriously damage relations between Moscow and Washington.
