United States President Donald Trump confirmed in an interview with Fox News, which will be broadcast on Sunday, that he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping "in about two weeks" on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, Agence France-Presse reports.
"We'll be meeting in about two weeks... in South Korea, with President Xi," Trump said, according to excerpts from an interview on Fox's Sunday Morning Futures show.
The US president is scheduled to arrive in South Korea for a two-day visit on October 29th, while the APEC summit will last until November 1st.
He threatened last week to cancel the meeting, but the US Treasury Secretary said on Wednesday that the meeting was expected to go ahead.
Trump is meeting with Xi amid ongoing tensions between Beijing and Washington, particularly over tariffs.
A fragile truce was agreed, but the US president threatened to impose additional 100 percent tariffs on Chinese products because he was not satisfied with China's tightening of export controls on rare earth minerals.
