The Israeli military announced tonight that it would halt attacks on the Gaza Strip, in accordance with a ceasefire, after carrying out dozens of deadly strikes.
The military claims it was targeting Hamas targets and accuses it of attacks on its forces that killed two soldiers.
"In accordance with directives from the political level and after a series of significant strikes in response to Hamas violations, the army continued to implement the ceasefire," the statement said.
The Israeli military "will continue to respect the ceasefire agreement and will respond firmly to any violations," the statement added.
