The black boxes of a cargo plane that crashed near Hong Kong airport on Monday have been found, authorities there announced today.
The plane, a Boeing 744, veered off the runway during landing and then hit a security patrol vehicle before crashing into the sea.
The accident was one of the most serious at Hong Kong International Airport, one of the world's busiest for air cargo, since it began operations in 1998.
Two security guards were killed in the accident, and authorities said they were in a safe position outside the runway area.
After the crash, an unnamed Emirates Airlines spokesman told AFP that the aircraft was "a cargo plane chartered with crew and operated by Act Airlines," a company based in Istanbul.
The Hong Kong Transport and Logistics Office said it would release a preliminary report on the investigation within a month.
The US and Turkish civil aviation accident investigation agencies, as well as experts from Boeing, are participating in the investigation.
