Flash floods in the Moroccan province of Safi on the Atlantic coast have killed 21 people, French media reported today.
The province of Safi, about 300 kilometers south of Rabat, was hit by heavy rainfall that triggered torrents of muddy water in a very short period of time.
At least 70 homes and businesses were flooded, ten vehicles were swept away and part of the road was damaged, leading to traffic disruptions on several roads in the city, Moroccan authorities said.
Efforts to search for possible victims continue, and authorities are trying to secure the affected areas and provide necessary support and assistance to the population, the authorities added.
