The board of directors chosen by United States President Donald Trump voted today to rename the leading performing arts center in Washington, D.C., the "Donald Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts," the White House announced.
The name "John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts" was designated by the US Congress in 1964 in honor of the assassinated president who helped finance the beginning of construction, which was not completed until 1971, with part of his family fortune.
A White House press secretary announced that the Board of Trustees voted to add Trump's name to the name because of "the incredible work that President Trump has done over the last year to save the building not only from a reconstruction standpoint, but also financially and in terms of his reputation."
