Fifteen people were injured this morning in a knife and chlorine attack at a factory in Japan, media reports.
The Japanese news agency Kyodo reported that an attacker wearing a gas mask poured chlorine and attacked workers with a knife at a Yokohama Tire Company factory in the city of Mishima, on the central island of Honshu.
The 38-year-old attacker was arrested at the scene of the attack, and his motive has not been released.
Serious crimes are relatively rare in Japan, which has a low murder rate and some of the strictest gun laws in the world.
However, there are occasional knife attacks, even with firearms, one of which was the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2022.
A Japanese man was sentenced to death in October for a 2023 gun and knife attack in which he killed four people, including two police officers.
A 43-year-old man was charged with attempted murder in May over a knife attack at Toda-mae subway station in Tokyo.
