At least 40 people, including civilians and soldiers, have been killed during a US military attack on Venezuela, according to a report published by The New York Times, citing a senior Venezuelan official who asked to remain anonymous.
US officials told the New York Times that the attack involved a large-scale air campaign aimed at disabling Venezuela's air defenses before deploying ground forces.
"More than 150 US aircraft were sent to destroy air defense systems so that military helicopters could transfer troops that attacked Maduro's position," the report added, as reported by RTS.
There was no confirmation from the White House or the Pentagon regarding the number of casualties or the full scope of the operation.
