At least 100 people were killed in the attack in which the United States captured Nicolas Maduro in Caracas, Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello announced last night.
According to him, the Venezuelan president and his wife were injured and deposed in the attack.
"So far, and I emphasize so far, there are 100 dead, and a similar number of wounded. The attack on our country was terrible," Cabello said in his Sunday show on public television, French France 24 reports on its portal.
He said Maduro's wife, Cilia Flores, suffered a head injury and a blow to the body, and that Maduro was wounded in the leg, adding that they were recovering.
On January 3, US special forces invaded Venezuela and took President Nicolas Maduro and his wife to New York, where they are charged with organizing drug trafficking.
So far, it has been reported that Caracas was bombed during the attack, and that at least 24 Venezuelan soldiers were killed.
The Cuban government previously confirmed that 32 Cuban military and police officers working in Venezuela were killed in the US attack.
Venezuela's acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, declared seven days of national mourning yesterday for members of the country's military who died in a US attack on Caracas.
