The United States (US) and its allies have carried out major strikes against Islamic State targets in Syria, the US Central Command (CENCOM) announced.
US President Donald Trump on Saturday ordered the strikes in retaliation for a deadly Islamic State attack on US forces in Syria on December 13, the US military command said.
The attacks, according to CENCOM, were carried out in an effort to counter terrorism and protect US and partner forces in the region, the BBC reports.
"Our message remains strong: if you harm our fighters, we will find you and kill you anywhere in the world, no matter how hard you try to evade justice," Central Command said.
