Iran has again accused the United States (US) and Israel of inciting violence against peaceful protests in Iran.
"Terrorists supported by US President Donald Trump and Israel have destroyed the peaceful protests of the people," government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said.
Iran's judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei said that "the people are armed with firearms" and have the support of Israel and the US, and warned that they will be dealt with "without mercy."
Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alvarez summoned the Iranian ambassador for talks to condemn Madrid's repression of protesters.
"The right of Iranian women and men to peaceful protest and their freedom of expression must be respected, and arbitrary detentions must end," Manuel Alvarez told Radio Catalonia.
Spokeswoman Mohajerani said the restrictions on communications were "a consequence of the current security situation." There has been no internet in Iran for five days.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told Al Jazeera that internet access in his country had been cut off following the start of "coordinated terrorist operations from abroad".
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that when a regime can only stay in power through the use of violence, it is "effectively finished."
"I believe we are now witnessing the last days and weeks of this regime," he said.
