Mexican authorities announced today that they have arrested six people suspected of being members of the "Tren de Aragua" gang, and the arrested are suspected of drug trafficking, extortion and human trafficking.
Mexican Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfuch announced the arrests on social media.
The announcement came a day after Speaker Claudia Sheinbaum and US President Donald Trump discussed their governments' continued cooperation against drug cartels.
The Trump administration last year designated the Tren de Aragua organization as a foreign terrorist organization and claimed it had ties to ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
The Tren de Aragua gang was formed more than ten years ago in a Venezuelan prison.
