Two road accidents in Pakistan killed 24 people and injured 45, officials said today.
The first accident occurred in Sargodha, a city in Punjab province in the east of the country, where a truck carrying passengers and cargo veered off the road and fell into a canal due to dense fog.
At that time, 14 people were killed and nine injured, according to police and rescue services.
In another accident, at least 10 people were killed and 36 injured when a bus traveling at high speed overturned on the Makran coastal highway in southwestern Baluchistan province, police said.
The bus was traveling from Karachi to Jiwani, also in Balochistan.
Accidents are common in Pakistan and are attributed to careless driving, poor roads, and poor enforcement and compliance with traffic laws.
