The Israeli government has said it opposes the composition of the "Gaza Peace Committee", which was previously announced by the White House.
The Israeli government said today that the formation "was not coordinated with Israel and is contrary to its policy," without providing a detailed explanation.
The statement also says that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed the Foreign Ministry to contact Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The composition of the committee announced by the White House on Friday does not include an Israeli official, and it does include an Israeli businessman.
Other members, whose names have been released so far, include two of President Donald Trump's closest trusted aides, a former British prime minister, a US general and a group of senior officials from Middle Eastern governments.
The Trump administration announced earlier this week that the US-drafted Gaza ceasefire plan was moving into a challenging second phase.
