Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called today for a full return to the war in Gaza, the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel reported.
Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the United States (US) had not formed a satisfactory composition of the "Peace Committee" for Gaza, which would coordinate the next steps in implementing the US peace plan with Israel, "because its composition is contrary to Israeli policy."
"I commend the Prime Minister for his important statement. The Gaza Strip does not need any 'governing council' to oversee its 'reconstruction' - it needs to be cleansed of Hamas terrorists, who must be eliminated, while encouraging large-scale voluntary emigration, in line with President Trump's original plan," Ben Gvir posted on the social network X.
He called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to order the Israeli army to prepare to return to fighting in the Gaza Strip, "in order to achieve the central goal of the war: the destruction of Hamas."
US President Donald Trump called early last year for the permanent resettlement of Gaza's population, and for the US to take control of Gaza after the war, but has since backed down and focused on implementing the current Gaza peace framework, which stipulates that Palestinians not be displaced from Gaza.
