Israel has begun demolishing the United Nations (UN) office in Jerusalem, after the government there earlier imposed restrictions on humanitarian organizations providing aid to the Palestinians.
UNRWA, the UN Relief and Works Agency, announced on the social network X that Israeli forces confiscated staff devices and forced them to leave their headquarters in the Sheikh Jarrah settlement.
"This is an unprecedented attack, and not just on UNRVA and its premises. This represents a serious violation of international law and the privileges and immunities of the United Nations," the statement said.
Israel has long condemned UNRWA for what it claims are pro-Palestinian leanings and accused it of links to Hamas - which it denies.
